Documenting the Need for Care Management in Elderly Hypertensive Patients
In a retrospective medical-chart-review study, an Analysis Group team including Managing Principal Mei Sheng Duh is examining the appropriateness of the use of antihypertensive medications and the extent of blood pressure control in elderly patients with chronic hypertension. In addition, at a subgroup level, our study focuses on the management of hypertension in the elderly with common coexisting conditions such as chronic kidney disease, diabetes, prior myocardial infarction, and high coronary disease risk. Health outcomes will be compared using univariate and multivariate analysis among patients who were treated with antihypertensives and those who were not treated. Our work will include review of medical records of eligible patients from various outpatient clinics across the US.
