LANXESS Acquisition of Emerald Kalama Chemical

Lanxess, a specialty chemicals company, sought to acquire Emerald Kalama Chemical, a manufacturer of specialty chemicals for foods and cosmetics, in a transaction valued at approximately $1 billion. Analysis Group was retained on behalf of Emerald to evaluate the antitrust implications of the acquisition. A team led by Managing Principal Rebecca Kirk Fair analyzed sales and competitive conditions across geographies and customer segments during the parties’ submissions to competition agencies in several countries. The transaction was approved.
