Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. v. ON Semiconductor Corp., and ON Semiconductor Corp. v. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.

After years of litigation over patents for dynamic random access memory (DRAM) technology, Analysis Group client Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., entered a confidential settlement agreement with ON Semiconductor Corp. to cross-license their patent portfolios. The settlement ends two lawsuits: Samsung's 2006 action to invalidate ON patents and ON's subsequent 2007 patent infringement suit against Samsung.

Kirkland & Ellis LLP retained Analysis Group to analyze damages on behalf of Samsung. Managing Principal Carla S. Mulhern led a team that conducted an affirmative reasonable royalty analysis for the patent Samsung asserted against ON, and responded to ON's damages expert with regard to four patents that ON had asserted against Samsung. Ms. Mulhern submitted two expert reports and provided expert testimony at deposition.
