Syngenta Crop Protection LLC v. Willowood LLC et al.
A North Carolina federal jury recently awarded Syngenta Crop Protection LLC $975,600 in its suit against Willowood LLC for infringing four of its patents related to the fungicide azoxystrobin. Syngenta had sought $75.6 million. In earlier rulings, US District Judge Catherine C. Eagles dismissed Syngenta's claims of unfair or deceptive trade practices, and also granted Willowood summary judgment on the claims of copyright infringement. Working with lawyers at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, Managing Principal John Jarosz led the Analysis Group team, which included Vice President F. Michael Nolan and Vice President Doug Frank, that was retained on behalf of Willowood to analyze damages issues. Mr. Jarosz presented Analysis Group's findings at trial.
