Universal Electronics Inc. v. Universal Remote Control, Inc.

A team from Analysis Group led by Managing Principal John Jarosz was retained by counsel on behalf of Universal Remote Control, Inc. (URC) to evaluate the plaintiff's claimed damages in a patent infringement dispute and to provide expert testimony regarding lost profits, reasonable royalty damages, and price erosion. In March 2012, Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI) accused URC -- a technology company that develops and manufactures control and home automation products -- of infringing several UEI patents. Following a two-week trial in May 2014, a jury found in favor of URC on all remaining claims and affirmative defenses. No damages were awarded to UEI.
