How has your perception of AG evolved since you started?
Before I started, I had heard a lot about how challenging the consulting environment can be. However, from the beginning, I found Analysis Group’s culture to be very supportive and collaborative. No matter how complex a case may be, there is always someone willing to help you figure out a solution, which makes every challenge seem solvable and rewarding.
What aspects of your work do you find most rewarding? What do you find most challenging?
The fact that I still learn something new every single day after four years of working at Analysis Group is what I find most challenging yet most rewarding. Every case has a unique aspect, whether that be a new client, methodology, or dataset – or simply your new responsibilities. The job never gets predictable, and you are always growing in one way or another!
How does your role contribute to the overall success of the team?
The associate role acts as the bridge between the analysts and the managers and vice presidents on a case team. This makes the role requirements very dynamic. Sometimes you play the role of the manager, coordinating the team’s timelines, brainstorming solutions, and presenting results to clients. At other times, you may need to get into the nitty-gritty of coding analysis.
How would you describe the dynamics within a case team? What types of cases have you worked on?
I work in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), and my cases have predominantly involved claims-based analyses and survey studies. The unifying factors in every case team are the importance of each member’s contribution to the final work product and the collaborative nature of our work. Regardless of job title, everyone’s input is valued and heard. Without this collaboration, it would be very difficult to meet case requirements and timelines.
What got you interested in health care consulting?
I had prior experience working at a pharmaceutical company, so health care consulting was the perfect way for me to apply the technical skills learned during my master’s program to solve real-world problems in an industry I was already familiar with.
What makes the AG community unique?
Just how approachable everyone is! It is wonderful to see how easily you can walk up to anyone in the office, regardless of their position or qualifications, and ask for advice, discuss case-related matters, or simply talk about weekend plans.
What are your favorite activities/hobbies outside of work?
I love traveling, hiking, and occasionally trying out a new dance class when I am feeling adventurous!
