Summary of Experience
Professor Officer is an expert in corporate finance and corporate governance, including capital structure, dividend policy, stockholder voting rights, and the contractual features of mergers and acquisitions (M&A). His research focuses on the mechanisms influencing pricing, returns, and deal premiums in different types of M&A scenarios, including initial public offerings (IPOs), leveraged buyouts (LBOs), auctions, and negotiated deals. Professor Officer has served as an expert witness and consultant in a number of matters, including antitrust, collusion in the US consumer payment card market, and collusion by financial sponsors for acquisitions in the US market. He has presented widely at conferences and has published in numerous journals, including The Journal of Finance, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. He is also an associate editor of the Journal of Financial Economics. Prior to joining the Loyola Marymount University faculty, Professor Officer taught at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, the USC Marshall School of Business, and Simon Business School, University of Rochester.
