Summary of Experience

Professor Smith is an expert in microeconomics and finance. He has served as an economic and financial consultant on issues of antitrust violations, damage estimation, securities and property valuation, franchise relationships, underwriter due diligence, and other matters. Professor Smith has provided consulting services to numerous public and private entities including the United States Department of Justice, the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Resolution Trust Corporation, Citibank, Chrysler Corporation, General Electric, and Morgan Stanley.

Professor Smith has focused his recent corporate finance research on issues related to venture capital. He also has conducted research on antitrust matters and made related presentations to the Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, and State Attorney General offices. Professor Smith is the coauthor of Entrepreneurial Finance (2nd edition, 2004), and numerous papers in leading finance and economics journals.
