Megan
Vice President, Los Angeles
- Why did you choose to join AG?
- I previously worked in litigation consulting at another firm and really enjoyed the experience. When I finished my Ph.D., I wanted to stay in L.A. and go back to consulting. I felt like AG had the kind of culture and work environment I was looking for: (1) a focus on teamwork and learning from each other instead of competition for status; (2) lots of smart people who also have a good sense of humor; and (3) support when the hours are long with breaks for fun in between.
- What do you enjoy most about your work?
- What I enjoy most is the feeling of success when I’ve figured out how to solve a puzzle presented by a case. The big-picture analyses, where you have to figure out how to attack the problem, are really interesting to me.
- What skills are vital for success at AG?
- Critical thinking and attention to detail. Both skills are critical to catching errors in your own work, your team’s work, and the other side’s work. They’re also critical for analyzing documents and data, which are the foundations of the arguments that will help you build your case.
- What is it like to work in your office? What is the culture there?
- Everyone works very hard, but it’s collaborative rather than competitive. We’re all trying to help each other. And there are always fun activities to break up the stress, like in-office massages, foosball tournaments, and case parties when a case finishes or reaches a major milestone. Everyone has a good sense of humor, which makes the work environment more fun.
- What do you do when you’re not working?
- Relax and try not to think about work. My brain needs a break on the weekends! I especially like to enjoy all of the outdoor activities L.A. offers year-round, especially hiking and walking or running with my dog.
