Analysis Group Manager Maryaline Catillon highlighted the potential benefits to French hospitals of research collaborations in a presentation at the AIA Life Designers conference, "Medical Research and Hospital Architecture: International Perspectives and Opportunities for French Hospitals.” Dr. Catillon shared how medical research developments have informed the way hospitals are structured and organized, resulting in architecture that accommodates initiatives including increased collaboration, remote patient support, and greater caregiver involvement. She also emphasized that participation in international research offers French hospitals opportunities beyond the ability to contribute real-world data (RWD) to the study of disease. Dr. Catillon explained that research partners can be a meaningful source of funding for French hospitals, allowing for investment in research, innovation, and new technology, and providing continuous research training opportunities to clinicians and data analysts. She also discussed how hospitals can use insights from their data to anticipate beneficial architectural changes and improve and personalize patient care.
