Senior Advisor Susan Tierney Coauthors Comprehensive Evaluation of the US Grid in a Report for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine

At the request of Congress and the Department of Energy, Senior Advisor Susan F. Tierney and other energy experts on a committee convened by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine have undertaken a comprehensive analysis of the US grid and how it how it might evolve in response to changes in demand, new energy sources, and future innovation.

The National Academies’ report, The Future of Electric Power in the United States, presents an extensive set of policy and funding recommendations aimed at modernizing the US electric system. The report addresses technology development, operations, grid architectures, and business practices, as well as ways to make the electricity system secure, sustainable, equitable, and resilient.
