State Attorneys General Reach Favorable Settlement in Student Loan Suit with Support from Analysis Group

Analysis Group was retained by a state attorney general who was among multiple state enforcement agencies pursuing lawsuits for alleged unfair and deceptive practices against Navient, a student loan servicing company, and its subsidiaries. The states claimed that Navient violated their consumer protection laws by, among other things, misapplying and misallocating borrower payments, and steering borrowers into forbearance without explaining the benefits of income-driven repayment plans.

An Analysis Group team led by Vice Presidents Laura O’Laughlin and David Smith provided consulting support to the plaintiff by analyzing the characteristics and content of customer calls. The case settled on terms favorable to the states.
