Vice President Juliette Caminade Testifies on Competitive Impacts of Scope-of-Work Restrictions Applied by Licensing Boards
April 24, 2023
For a case filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia (Atlanta Division), Analysis Group Vice President Juliette Caminade testified twice at deposition on behalf of the plaintiff, a non-dentist who provided teeth whitening services and was served a cease-and-desist order by the Georgia Board of Dentistry. The defendants had asserted that the plaintiff’s teeth-whitening services posed present, significant, and substantiated harm to consumers.
Working with an Analysis Group team that included Managing Principal Samuel Weglein and Managers Ann Murray and Johanna Posch, in her testimony Dr. Caminade addressed competition in the teeth whitening industry and the effect of scope-of-work restrictions from licensing boards on supply, competition, and consumers. She also rebutted the report of the defendants’ economic expert. Ultimately, the litigants agreed before trial on a settlement favorable to the plaintiff.
